Elizabeth Tate MA, LCMHCA
Hi, my name is Elizabeth! My pronouns are she/her, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself and Misty Mountains Counseling, LLC. We were established in May 2025, and I am excited to welcome you on your therapeutic Hero’s Journey! I am a nerd, geek, and gamer myself and welcome using these stories in our sessions together as a way to understand your life experiences.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science from Appalachian State University with a concentration in Social Inequalities and a minor in LGBT Studies in August 2016. I went on to earn my Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2019. I worked in a university counseling center and a primary care practice before striking out on my own in private practice.
I am passionate about providing culturally aware and responsive mental health services to a diversity of clients, including gender-affirming care. I work with individuals (age 16+) and people in relationships on issues including, but not limited to:
Anxiety
ADHD
Depression
Bipolar Disorders
Emerging Adulthood & Life Transitions
Gender-Affirming Care
School Issues
Relationship Issues
Self-Harm
Suicidal Ideation
Trauma
Open Relationships & Non-Monogamy
Many of my clients experience marginalization including racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, and other oppressions. I am a white, cisgender, and queer counselor and I encourage you to consider if you are comfortable with a counselor holding those identities, among others I can disclose at your inquiry. I am committed to anti-racism and practice white accountability actions including ongoing study and regular contributions to BIPOC-led mutual aid funds.
My associate license number is #A15226 and I anticipate receiving full LCHMC licensure in the state of North Carolina in fall 2025. I receive regular supervision and can provide my supervisor’s information on request.
